In a bid to further improve air quality in Lahore, the Punjab government is proceeding with plans to create artificial rain, even though there was a noticeable reduction in smog on Sunday. This innovative approach aims to enhance the city’s air quality, which has been a persistent concern for residents.
Raja Jahangir Anwar, the Secretary of the Environment Protection Department, has urged residents to stay indoors to minimize exposure to pollution and related health issues. “Residents should take precautions to avoid pollution-related infections,” he advised.
The government’s efforts to curb pollution have been extensive. Authorities have been seizing smoke-emitting vehicles and shutting down brick kilns and factories that violate environmental regulations. Anwar made it clear that there would be zero tolerance for those flouting the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). “Violators will face strict legal consequences,” he warned.
These stringent measures are part of the ongoing efforts to improve Lahore’s air quality. The introduction of artificial rain is expected to be a significant step in combating the city’s pollution problems, showing the government’s commitment to ensuring a healthier environment for its citizens.
